Our Work
GPS works to conserve the fragile ecosystem and protect the wildlife of Galapagos in many ways, including:
- Removing stray dogs and cats from the streets and placing them in new home
- Constructing free fencing for families to keep their family dog from wandering
- Partnering with local schools to develop a humane education program for children in pre-school through high school
- Reaching out the public to encourage adoption of dogs and cats already on Galapagos instead of purchase of new purebred puppies
- Developing intelligence to prevent the illegal smuggling of purebred dogs into the islands

Imagine a place where hundreds of iguanas lay on rocks in the sun, sea lions slumber on the beach, birds nest on the ground and giant tortoises bathe in muddy pools. In the Galapagos Islands, this is not a stretch of the imagination, however, all of these animals are threatened by the thousands of street dogs and cats living in Galapagos.
